Rich in Years by Johann Christoph Arnold

Rich in Years, Finding Peace and Purpose in a Long Life is so inspiring, through the use of real-life stories, quotes and information from many people. I love all the different quotes he includes and photos with short quotes at the beginning of each chapter. It is a real treasure chest of encouragement and very thought provoking as I journey through my life. Once quote he included from Macbeth really hit home for me," Out, out, brief candle! Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player That struts and frets his hour upon the stage And then is heard no more: it is a tale Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, Signifying nothing." There are so many other short little tidbits of wonder information included in Mr Arnold's book. I highly recommend it. Inspiring Story-Miss Brenda and the Loveladies

Miss Brenda and the Loveladies is an inspiring story of a woman that used her experience and resources to turn life around for a group of ladies that no one would give a chance to, not enough themselves. I liked the story and how she wrote about each of the ladies and their experiences but I would have liked more about her own life, how she grew up, her childhood and how she got to the point where she was that gave her the passions she had for these women. There is some of that at the beginning of the book and a short part about how she almost got put in prison but I wanted more. It is a quick read and very interesting, anyone involved in prison or prison ministry would really relate and enjoy this novel. I received this book for free from WaterBrook Press/Blogging for Books for this review. I was not required to write a positive review.

Review: Betrayal

Betrayal
Betrayal by Karin Alvtegen

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was a great psychological ride through the art of betrayal which was at times creepy but other times thrilling but the end was not what I expected and I was disappointed. But well worth the read for the author's great writing.

Review: Purgatory Ridge

Purgatory Ridge
Purgatory Ridge by William Kent Krueger

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I love the Cork O'Connor series and this one didn't disappoint. Aurora is on fire in this Purgatory Ridge, in more than one way and Cork is right in the middle of political issues and land dispute. But it gets very personal in this mystery. Really enjoyed!

Ingredients for Success 10 Best Practices for Business and Life by Joesph James Slawek

In his book, Ingredients for Success 10 Best Practices, Joseph Slawek used Matthew 25 as his main reference and particularly 3 main parables. He shows how each applies to the practices and how they apply to your business and life. By using the 10 best practices which include truth, planning, abilities, talents, accounting, invest, excellence (not perfection), being strong, redistribution and gratitude, you can find the true purpose of your business and your life. I think the author sets up get practices, which are from the teachings of Jesus, that every business can use. His writing is excellent and he is very humble in his presentation of the information. A short book with lots of thought provoking information, highly recommended. I received my copy of this book from Handlebar Publishing in exchange for this honest review. All opinions are my own.

The Power of a Half Hour by Tommy Barnett

In Tommy Barnett's new book about "getting things done", he says the key to maximizing your productivity is to make use of small, manageable moments, 30 minutes, in your life. This practical easy to read book seems to provide almost immediate results for all most all areas of our life. Even though the idea is a very simple one, the author seems to help you press on to actually put it into action, which is the hard part for so many of us. There is a Personal Power of a Half Hour Action Plan which I used after each chapter and it helped emphasize each point in the chapter so it was easier to push on. Also included is a Small-Group Study Guide with 7 lessons. This book is for those of us who have not started to try and manage our time or have forgotten that even a small amount of time each day can make a big difference. I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group/Blogging for Books for this review. I was not required to write a positive review.
